01/06/06 Southport

Based on these cold nights, we left the campsite to go even higher to the national park Springbrook. Removing the trailer in 15 minutes and check the tires because they were a little flat, we have actually re-inflate a bit, then after the battery was low so we just reload and then we took the road. Short stop in Murwillumbah for a picnic on the grass in a nice sunny park in the middle of this small town. Subsequently we take the road where you must stay 5 days. And along the way as I said a few lines above we stopped to buy fruit, vegetables and bread. And we can also find services that consist of coils

to pay as indicated and use. And the adventure stops there 7km from the Queensland border, after a stop for one of our girls to pee, we realize that the tires of the 4X4 smoke and impossible to change gear. A little angry, we use RACQ (by insurance), a half hour wait and we see it happen. After diagnosis, he tells us that it is better off on Nerang is more reassuring. We followed up over there to go to Springbrook because we still had the mountain to do, he was afraid that again. So it will be for next time.

So we are looking for a caravan park in a hurry, we will stop at Southport on Surfer paradise, a campsite in the middle of the city, a bit expensive it takes $ 38 a night   but has all the comforts. Hot water, barbecue and cooking facilities and a washing machine and dryer ($ 3 each)

31/05/06 Mount Warning

After that first night very cold, we wake up with the singing of kukaburras (birds) that rise with the sun (5:00 am). We test the equipment, operation of the kitchen, and installation, all is normal. And in the afternoon we start our walk through these beautiful mountains. Along the way we found on the bottom side of the road a small market of vegetables and fruits (much cheaper than in town)

Ex for a kilo of bananas we pay $ 9 in Queensland while here in New South Wales it is $ 3.40. At dusk we lit a fire to keep warm and enjoy it for a barbecue. At the end of the meal   we headed to our quilts to spend yet another cold night.

30/05/06 START Macleay

Départ pour l'aventure Logan initially on very early and final passage on the ferry for the final races for the fridge over the truck some tips and more. Then head to Mount Warning , ½ hour cap so we arrived at night. We walked up the tent in the headlights of the truck. Preparation of beds, the girls were up to them, then I prepared a soup to warm up. Bed around 8:30 p.m. because it's dark early. I was very cold to sleep which resulted in a back and forth between the bed and the toilet.

Mount warning beautiful landscape, despite the mountains were green.

Known historically, he served as a guide to the fleet of Captain Cook to head for the coast of Australia (the peak can be seen from the horizon), the Mount warning is in fact the center of the caldera formed by the collapse of the volcano itself.

The campsite is in the middle of national park. $ 24 for all the world for one night, expect $ 4 for wood to warm you if you are like us in a tent and $ 3 for washing machine and the same price for the dryer.
