2/16/09 Sign has the school

Last day to enroll girls in their new school, right next to the house. Before going I had telephoned the rector saw Noumea to find out what papers have with us: family record, social security card, medical certificate, letter of radiation (which has not seen the last school was English), and school record.

This morning we go to school for 8:30, we were received by the director very nice, it took all our papers, we visited the school containing 166 students and our daughters will return to school on 19/02 / 09 7:30, we will accompany them in their respective classes CE2 and CM2. Because they are new I think the day we will stand all. After ca we start in town for another entry the canteen, a few people but until we fill a paper pre-registered for newcomers. This is the same system in France was the exception that everyone pays the same rate, there is no family quotient (CAF). We paid 16,400 for two children Cfp (137 euros) until late March, to avoid returning to town every month we opted for a direct debit.

Always so nice and warm, today is the birthday of our eldest daughter 11 years of age or it is considered the king of the world, then they are not even a teenager. Just family birthday cake made by the father accompanied by sweets and everything ends with a collection of gift. I think she was spoiled

08/02/09 Bourail / turtle beach

For Sunday we got up a 6:30 to admire the birth of baby turtles on the beach here in the rock breakthrough with the team of volunteers "Bwara". http://bwara-tortues-marines.blog4ever.com / blog/index-145430.html they added their blog to understand why we must save the baby turtles. This morning it was too late for us, we had not taken the right side of the beach by the cons far we see volunteers doing a half turn, we catch them and ask if the baby turtles are born, there had a hundred. Unfortunately we have misses, we will return another day. In addition the weather is gloomy, my husband goes kayaking with our friend, and we meanwhile we prepare lunch as there are still people for lunch. Of French living in NC for 17 years receive young people for a period of three weeks to learn French. This time it is the daughter of friends in Australia who has improved her French. At our first meeting she dared not speak French although his father is of French origin and an American mother. Two years have passed and his French has improved, hat, we were able to speak French with her. Super very nice weekend in the bush of New Caledonia.

02/07/09 Bourail

Today we leave for the weekend with friends of my step father in Bourail. 200 km distance from Noumea it takes two hours. The road is paved and not too bad, just watch out for potholes (hole formed by heavy water) in fact right now we have huge depressions from Australia who also suffers harm the weather: floods in Queensland and endless fires in Victoria, we watch the news regularly because we have friends and family in these regions. Around 11:30 we arrive at our friends for lunch, they live before Bourail has the pierced rock somewhere secluded but seen opposite the beach, beautiful. Their house is very original as we like, it does not have a wall which gives the impression of a large and direct view of the garden, the first floor there are bedrooms. After a hearty meal we go for a walk three hours to walk. We begin with:

  • the beach and the old man of rock breakthrough: huge monolith at the Nera river, the beach is famous for surfers to cause the rollers.
  • The viewpoint of the pierced rock: great view but your breath has had its steep climb. Swimming had a dangerous reef. This did not prevent the girls and our friend to go.
  • Turtle Bay: a wild beach surrounded by pines, the most beautiful in the region.

Back at home we enjoy a cold shower, then it was time for dinner, we all spend a table with a huge appetite. Super Saturday out of town, no noise, no pollution .....
